Submitted Frank, but found it difficult to stop my blood boiling. This may have bubbled over into my choice of words. I took one look at that vacuous "questionnaire" and simply fired off an email.
I scrolled through question after question, page after page. It's darkly ironic that the govt department charged with reducing bureacracy has a lengthy, bureaucratic questonaire to gauge opinion on... bureaucracy. Either Seymour isn't aware of the laboratory creature he has created (hat tip to Mary Shelley), or doesn't care because he's achieved his aim of attracting voter supprt.
I simply broke up my submission into two parts; copy & pasted it into two windows on the form; and scrolled past everything else. (Taking note of one question which seemed to advocate for another govt department... LMAO!)
Excellent pointing out the double standards that Seymour regularly expresses! The RSB is nothing more than catapulting Aotearoa NZ down an extreme neoliberal pathway under the guise of Libertarianism of freedom, liberty, equality…..and placing a long term straight jacket on how Government can function including local government (yes that’s hidden in the Bill too) as well as subtracting away democracy. Democracy is an anathema to achieving neoliberal outcomes.
This is just shameful law and never should have seen the light of day considering it’s been generated by a MINOR political party.
This is ACT’s fourth attempt in getting this legislation across the line. If you apply Seymour’s position of three strikes and you’re out, we’ll this Bill has to be out too in that context!
Ka pai! Your submission is a cracker, well done. I went through the online questionnaire, which was full of leading questions and minimised opportunities for proper dissent. I agree that the opposition pāti(s) should pledge to remove this legislation, but rather than on the 100 day list deal with it on the first day of that new parliament!
