. . The gentleman who heckled Winston Peters at Wellington Railway Station on 20 May, has been ‘outed' by the media as an employee of engineering firm Tonkin + Taylor.
Well said! Winstone has recently commented that the standards of parliament have deteriorated. If he would look in the mirror, he would meet the man who has brought most of that about.
How very Winston. Without doubt the hypocrite of the week, year, millennium. The cookers only chance of relevance provided by a politician who would have scorned them before the last election.
The moment he finds a new 'base', he'll dump the conspiracists, anti-vaxxers, and transphobes as fast as he turned his back on his superannuitant supporters...
Good call out of T&T - looks very craven of them, I thought they would be better. It's a reminder to put your work's ID in your pocket if you are attending a political gathering!
Not having visual indicators of your workplace would be helpful.
Unfortunately, in Aotearoa we're all two degrees removed from each other. It would take one other person to recognise him from media photos and spill the beans to a click-hungry media.
My suggestion is that our fourth estate should be more discerning in revealing personal details of private citizens.
Great piece Frank. I was horrified that T&T apologised to Peters. It was wrong in so many ways. They don't own their employee out of work time and you are so right that this is a disturbing Trumpian trend.
That T&T would bend over for Winston is a symptom of this epidemic of ‘cosyism’, that another Cabinet Minister is guilty of hypocrisy is not surprising - it may actually be written into the almighty Coalition agreement

Indeed, Leonie. Probably the most glaringly obvious case of projection we';ve seen. If all MPs behaved like him, it'd be a physical riot, non-stop.
There was a good article in the Spinoff, laying out his harmful rhetoric.. all true. The path does lead to his door.
Yup… Free speech!! But only if you agree with my opinion.

Very true Frank

Yes I agree!

Pandering to those in power is so Trumpian. It's disturbing to see it here in Aotearoa New Zealand.
I hope people don't forget that Peters & Co are in office at our pleasure. They are our servants, not the reverse.
